Meet Villa Strozzi
Nestled in the hills of Whakamarama, this family home enjoyed stunning rural views but struggled with year-round comfort. Cold winters, overheated summers, and older single-glazed joinery meant the home wasn’t performing as well as it could.
The Challenge
The existing windows let heat escape in winter and amplified solar gain in summer. Noise from outside carried easily through thin glass and condensation was becoming an issue. The homeowners wanted a solution that would protect their views while improving comfort and efficiency.
The Project
Michael and Rachel’s two-level home is built with cinderblock downstairs and brick upstairs. The existing joinery wasn’t providing the warmth or insulation they needed — especially now with a little one in the house. They also wanted to improve the indoor-outdoor flow, so as part of the job, Elite Double Glazing converted one of the windows into a sliding door.
Working closely with Sean, they opted for a full aluminium joinery replacement throughout the home, paired with SuperTherm™ Low-E double glazing to help manage temperature and light more effectively year-round.
